FINANCIAL ADVISOR | ABILENE & THE BIG COUNTRY

A Financial Advisor in Abilene Who Sounds Like a Person

Plain-English planning for retirement, taxes, and giving, without the pressure or the jargon

Most people don't go looking for a financial advisor because they're excited about it.

They go looking because something changed.

A spouse passed. Retirement got close. The taxes came back higher than expected. A house sold. A parent's estate landed in their lap. Somewhere in the middle of it, a quiet thought showed up:

"I should probably understand this better."

If that's the thought that brought you here, you're in the right place. And you're not behind.

Why "Simply Human"

The name actually came from a friend of mine, Mark Rogers. After he passed, his family blessed me to carry it forward. I've told the story here. Losing him taught me the one thing I now build everything around.

Presence.

When he was with you, he was with you. No rushing. No half-listening. No checking out. And it changed me. It showed me how much of life, and how many important conversations, get missed while everyone's worried about what's next.

So that's how I want to sit with you.

A lot of financial advice in this country is built to sound impressive. Charts. Acronyms. A tone that makes you feel like everyone in the room understands except you. I spent the early part of my career around that, and I never liked how it felt.

We do it differently here.

We talk in plain English. We start with your life, not your portfolio. We assume you're smart, because you are, and that nobody ever sat down and explained this stuff to you in a way that actually made sense.

That's the whole idea. Money is human. So the advice should be too.

What I actually do

I'm a financial planner and a CPA, based here in Abilene. That combination matters more than it sounds.

A lot of folks have an investment person over here, a tax preparer over there, and an attorney they saw once. Nobody is connecting it. Everyone's doing their piece, and the pieces don't talk.

My job is to be the person who sees the whole table.

  • Retirement income: turning what you've saved into a paycheck that lasts

  • Taxes: planning ahead instead of reacting every April

  • Investments: built around your life, not a sales goal

  • Giving: to your church, your family, the causes you love, without fear

  • Transitions: loss, retirement, selling a business, settling an estate

It all connects. When it's planned together, things get calmer. That's the point.

Fee-only, and what that means for you

I'm a fee-only advisor and a fiduciary. In plain terms: I don't earn commissions for selling you products, and I'm required to put your interests first.

I'm not telling you that to brag. I'm telling you because you deserve to know how the person across the table gets paid. When that's clear, you can stop wondering, and just ask your questions.

Why "in person" still matters out here

I could work with anyone, anywhere. The technology makes that easy.

But I live in Abilene. My family is here. And there's something about the Big Country that doesn't translate over a screen. Sitting across a real table, in a real chair, while someone tells you what they're actually worried about.

So while I'm glad to help folks anywhere, I have a soft spot for the people right here. Abilene, Taylor County, and the counties all around us: Jones, Callahan, Runnels, Nolan, Coleman, Shackelford, Fisher, and on out across the Big Country. These are my neighbors.

I'd rather see you in person when I can.

What working together feels like

No pressure. No 40-page binder you'll never open. No lecture.

We start with a conversation. You tell me what's on your mind. I listen. Then we figure out the next right step, together, at a pace that feels okay to you.

You don't have to have it all figured out before we talk. That's literally my job.

And the goal isn't just to make you safe. It's to help you feel free. Free to give, to enjoy what you've built, to stop bracing and start living.

Money handled well should give you more life, not more worry.

If you've been carrying this quietly for a while, you don't have to carry it alone anymore.

Let's get acquainted

It’s just a conversation. No cost, no pressure. Your chance to be heard and see if we’re a fit.
